Associate Specialist (Microbiologist/Sample Manager)

Job Summary:
This position will provide assistance to the Safety and Quality Group (SQG) in several aspects of safety and quality projects.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with testing program management including tracking studies, sample management, invoice management, report archiving
Primary support for microbiological testing operation:
Familiarity with formulation review/analysis to determine microbiological testing needs
Microbiological support may include bioburden testing, waste sterilization, preservative challenge, and determination of period after opening (familiarity with these studies required)
Ability to review microbiological reports from a scientific standpoint
Familiarity with water activity testing, including operation of laboratory instruments
Secondary support with sample management, invoice management, tracking studies and report archiving for other study types:
Chemical testing (e.g., heavy metals)
Toxicological testing (e.g., skin/eye irritation, sensitization)
Assist with tracking and prioritizing projects
Develop additional databases and organize information, as needed
Qualifications & Competencies:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in microbiology with a minimum of 0-3 years of experience in the contract manufacturing industry, consumer products industry, contract research organizations, raw material industry, or other relevant experience
Basic knowledge of microbiology (e.g., aseptic techniques, media preparation, culture maintenance, gram-stain) required
Interested in applying knowledge to practical projects
Interested in mostly a desk-type position (minimal lab work involved)
Interested in personal care products/cosmetic safety and quality
Strong organizational/project management skills
Good team player, customer- and results-oriented
Good communication skills in a multicultural environment
Interested in process development/improvement
Good knowledge of Microsoft office
Knowledge of COPTIS and MAPICS preferred but not required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
